After a conference, use MiniMax Code to find the people you met on LinkedIn and queue personal connection requests and messages you approve.

## The short answer

You come back from a conference with a pocket of business cards, a phone full of notes, and good intentions. MiniMax Code connected to Finchreach can turn those notes into follow-ups: find each person on LinkedIn, draft a connection request that mentions what you talked about, and message the people you are already connected to. Every request and message waits for your approval.

MiniMax Code supports remote MCP servers with custom headers. MCP is a standard plug that lets AI apps use outside tools; Finchreach is a remote MCP server at `https://mcp.finchreach.com/mcp` that operates your own LinkedIn account. As of October 2026 we couldn’t verify custom MCP support in the MiniMax Agent web and desktop product, so this guide uses MiniMax Code.

## Why do event follow-ups fall through?

The value of meeting someone at an event fades fast. Within a week, they have met fifty other people and you have a backlog of email. The follow-up itself is easy; finding the right profile, remembering which conversation was whose, and writing a note that isn’t generic is what takes the evening.

This is a good job for a coding agent that can read files. Put your notes in a plain text file, and MiniMax Code can match each line to a LinkedIn profile using `linkedin_search` (people vertical, optionally filtered to 1st, 2nd or 3rd+ connections), queue `linkedin_send_invitation` with a note of up to 300 characters, and use `linkedin_send_dm` for people already in your network.

## How do you turn event notes into LinkedIn follow-ups?

Start with a notes file, one person per line, as messy as you like. Then ask:

> Ask your assistant: “Read event-notes.txt from DevOpsDays. For each person, search LinkedIn people using the name and company, and show me a table: my note, the best matching profile with headline, network distance, and how confident you are in the match. Don’t take any action yet.”

Fix the wrong matches, then draft:

> Ask your assistant: “For everyone who is 2nd or 3rd degree, draft a connection note under 300 characters that mentions what we talked about from my notes. For 1st-degree connections, draft a short message instead. Same tone for all: friendly, specific, no pitch. Show me every draft.”

> Ask your assistant: “Send the invitations for rows 1, 2, 4 and 6 and the messages for rows 3 and 5. Leave the rest. Write the action ids back into event-notes.txt next to each name.”

All six actions land at [/approvals](https://finchreach.com/approvals) in the Finchreach dashboard. Approve them over a day or two rather than all at once; they run when you approve them.

## How do you connect MiniMax to LinkedIn?

1. Create an account at [finchreach.com/sign-up](https://finchreach.com/sign-up), connect your LinkedIn account under Accounts, and create an API key under API keys.
2. In MiniMax Code, open plugin management → MCP Servers → add, using Form or JSON mode, or edit `~/.minimax/mcp.json` directly.
3. Add the entry below and export `FINCHREACH_API_KEY` in your shell.
4. Check that it loaded with `mcode mcp list --human`, then ask MiniMax Code to list your LinkedIn accounts.
5. See the [MiniMax guide](https://finchreach.com/guides/minimax) and the [docs](https://finchreach.com/docs) for details on keys and approvals.

~/.minimax/mcp.json:
```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "finchreach": {
      "type": "streamable-http",
      "url": "https://mcp.finchreach.com/mcp",
      "headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer ${FINCHREACH_API_KEY}" },
      "enabled": true
    }
  }
}
```

> Our confidence in these MiniMax Code steps is medium as of October 2026; the [MiniMax Code MCP docs](https://agent.minimax.io/docs/code/agents/mcp) are the reference if a field name has changed. `http` is accepted as an alias for the `streamable-http` type.

## What should an event follow-up on LinkedIn say?

- Where you met and one detail from the conversation, so they can place you.
- Something useful if you promised it: the article, the tool, the intro.
- No sales pitch in the first message, even if the conversation was about buying.
- A light next step only when it makes sense, such as “happy to compare notes after your migration”.
- Speed. A follow-up within a few days lands better than a perfect one two weeks later.

Ask MiniMax Code to flag any line in your notes that is too thin to write a specific message. A vague follow-up is often worse than none.

## What if the assistant matches the wrong person?

Common names and job changes make this a real risk, which is why the first prompt asks for a table and no actions. Check each match against what you remember: company, role, location, photo on LinkedIn if needed. The approval queue is a second check, but it’s better to catch a wrong match before the draft is written.

## Will sending connection requests through an AI get me restricted?

> Automating a personal LinkedIn account carries risk under LinkedIn’s User Agreement. Approval of every invitation and message and a human pace lower that risk; they don’t remove it.

LinkedIn limits how many invitations a personal account can send, and a pile of ignored requests is not a good look. Following up with people you actually met is the safest kind of outreach there is, and it should stay small and personal.

## Frequently asked questions

Can MiniMax Code read photos of business cards? That depends on the model and client you run; Finchreach only handles the LinkedIn side. Typing the notes into a text file is the reliable route.

Can I accept invitations from people I met, too? Not yet: listing and accepting received invitations is coming soon. For now, accept them in LinkedIn and let MiniMax Code draft a welcome DM, approved like everything else.

Does this work in other agents? Any MCP client that sends an API key header works; see [Claude Code](https://finchreach.com/integrations/claude-code) or the [MiniMax integration](https://finchreach.com/integrations/minimax) page.
