Build in public on LinkedIn with Replit Agent

Turn each Replit build session into a short build-in-public LinkedIn update. Replit Agent drafts it from what changed; you approve it before it posts.

The short answer

If you build in public, Replit Agent can write your progress updates for LinkedIn. Add Finchreach to Replit as an MCP server with your API key in a custom header. At the end of a session, ask the Agent to summarize what changed in the project and turn it into a short LinkedIn post in your voice. The post waits in your Finchreach approval queue. Nothing appears on LinkedIn until you approve it.

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is a standard plug that lets AI apps use outside tools. Finchreach is a remote MCP server for LinkedIn at https://mcp.finchreach.com/mcp. Replit lets you add MCP servers with arbitrary custom headers, so it connects directly.

Why post build updates from Replit?

Building in public works when it is regular, and it stops being regular the moment it becomes a chore. Most people skip the update because, after two hours of debugging, they don’t want to reconstruct what they did and make it readable.

Replit Agent was there for the whole session. It knows which features you added, what broke, and what you decided not to do. Asking it for the update takes one message, and you get a draft based on the actual work instead of a vague “made progress today”.

The Finchreach tools it uses for this:

  • linkedin_get_profile to read your name and headline so the post matches how you present yourself.
  • linkedin_search with the content vertical to find your earlier updates and keep the series consistent.
  • linkedin_create_post to draft the update, which goes to your approval queue.
  • linkedin_get_notifications and linkedin_comment_on_post to read replies later and draft answers, also queued for approval.

What should I ask Replit Agent at the end of a session?

Give it the format once and reuse it. For example:

Ask your assistant“Summarize what we changed in this project today, in plain language for non-developers. Then draft a build-in-public LinkedIn post: day number 14, one sentence on what the product is, two or three bullet-style lines on what shipped, one honest line about what was hard, and a question for readers. Under 900 characters. Show me the draft first; don’t create the post yet.”

When you like it:

Ask your assistant“Good. Remove the technical term in the second line and create the post with Finchreach so it goes to my approval queue.”

And the next morning, before you start building:

Ask your assistant“Check my LinkedIn notifications for comments on yesterday’s build update. List them, and draft a short reply to anyone who asked a question. Queue the replies for my approval.”

Keep a short note in the project, such as a BUILDLOG.md file, with the day number and a one-line summary each time. It gives the Agent something reliable to read so the series stays consistent across sessions.

How do I connect Finchreach to Replit?

The full walkthrough is in the Replit guide. The short version:

  1. Create a Finchreach account and connect your LinkedIn account on the Accounts page.
  2. Create an API key on the API keys page (it starts with lk_).
  3. In your Replit project, open the Integrations pane → MCP servers → + Add MCP server.
  4. Enter a name and the URL https://mcp.finchreach.com/mcp.
  5. Open Advanced settings and add a custom header: name Authorization, value Bearer lk_... with your key.
  6. Click Test & save, then ask the Agent to list your Finchreach LinkedIn accounts.

Replit routes MCP traffic through its security scanner, and its docs don’t state plan requirements for MCP servers, as of October 2026. See Replit’s MCP docs for the current details and our quickstart for the Finchreach side.

Your API key is a secret. Add it only in the MCP header field, never in your project’s code or a committed file, especially if the Repl is public.

What makes a good build-in-public post on LinkedIn?

  • Concrete beats impressive: “users can now export to CSV” is more interesting than “big progress on the data layer”.
  • Show the struggle briefly. One honest line about a bug or a wrong turn makes the post human.
  • Keep the product description to one sentence, the same each time, so new readers catch up fast.
  • Ask one specific question. “Would you pay for X?” gets more useful replies than “thoughts?”.
  • Post at a pace you could keep up by hand. A steady weekly update is fine; you don’t need daily.

Finchreach posts are text only today, so if you want a screenshot or demo clip, add it by hand on LinkedIn. Posts also aren’t scheduled: the post goes live when you approve it, so approve when you want it out.

Can Replit Agent post to LinkedIn on its own?

Not while approval mode is on, which is the default. Every write the Agent makes, whether a post, comment, reaction, DM or invitation, becomes a pending action with status pending_approval. You review the exact text on the approvals page and approve or reject it. The Agent can check the outcome with linkedin_get_action.

Coding agents act quickly and confidently. That is what you want for code you can roll back, and not what you want for a public post you can’t unsee. The queue gives you that pause.

Automating a personal LinkedIn account carries risk under LinkedIn’s User Agreement. The approval queue lowers that risk by keeping a person in charge of every action and its timing, but it doesn’t remove it.

Replit and LinkedIn: common questions

Can the app I build on Replit post to LinkedIn for its users? That is a different use case. Finchreach acts on your own connected LinkedIn account and is meant for your assistant, not as a LinkedIn API for your app’s users.

Can it post to my company page? No. Finchreach supports personal accounts and text posts today. Company pages, images, video, scheduling and analytics aren’t supported.

Can I use the same key in my other coding tools? Yes. Any MCP client that sends a header works, such as Claude Code. For background, read what a LinkedIn MCP server is.
